The scenario of the exercises is a peacekeeping operation, like the efforts now being undertaken in several areas of conflict around the world. During the first two parts, Bold Lightning and Initial Effort, has extensive transport and movements to achieve current practice areas been implemented, just as it would be in a real operation.
During the Initial Effort was also made a valuation of the Battlegroup. Valuation, or evaluation as it is called, is a verification of interoperability. That is, the ability to work effectively with foreign military forces.
The units of the NBG has now the task of contributing to stability and security in the fictional country called "Southland". It will be made by stabilizing, check and curb illegal activities occurring in the area.
Strategy and tactics
The Battlegroup is working after a concept in which they arrive in the operating range and where they first establish a strategic airfield, in this exercise on Kallinge airport in Ronneby. The Strategic Airport called MOB and means Main Operating Base. At the strategic airport is NBG's headquarters located, the so-called (F) HQ which stands for Force Headquarters.
Illegal activities
From the strategic airport, the personnel and equipment is transported by air to the Tactical Airport. The Tactical Airport is called FOB means Forward Operating and Base that during the exercise series is prepared in Hagshult. It is from the FOB the various missions begins when to be performed in the area and that is where Joint Action now starts.
NBG has by careful intelligence work received information that there is significant illegal activities in the area.
During the initial days of Joint Action the Battlegroup will move further into the fictional Mission Area. There are data to get further up the scale of conflict. The aim of the mission is that "Southland" should be stable and secure when the exercise series will end on 18 November.
