Media Events during the Swedish Armed Forces Exercise Aurora 17

From the 11-29 September the Armed Forces will conduct exercise Aurora 17, throughout which a number of media events will take place.

Under perioden 22 maj till 2 juni arrangerar Sverige, Finland och Norge en internationell flygövning, där Finland är övningsledare och ansvarig för övningen. Övningen som kallas Arctic Challenge Exercise 2017, ACE 17, genomförs för tredje gången inom ramen för det nordiska samarbetet och det Cross border-avtal som finns mellan länderna. Övningen är en vidareutveckling av tidigare års genomförda flygövningar och är planerad att genomföras vart annat år.

It is not possible to apply for press accreditation for the whole exercise. Accreditation will be provided on an individual event basis. Invitations will be issued through Mynewsdesk. Applications for accreditation are to be sent to the Armed Forces Media Centre. To attend an event you are required to have pre-registered and to present valid press credentials.

Below are some examples of media activities during the exercise (further events will also take place):

Wednesday, 13/9: Supreme Commander will visit Gothenburg, where host nation support will be exercised with the American and French Air Defense Units.

Monday, 18/9: Air-drop, Gotland.

Tuesday 19/9: Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing will operate from temporary air bases during Aurora 17.

Tuesday, 19/9: Swedish Anti-Aircraft Defence meets Combat Helicopters, Gotland.

Wednesday, 20/9: HM King Carl XVI Gustaf and HRH Prince Carl Philip are scheduled to visit Aurora 17 on Gotland.

Thursday, 21/9: Defence of Sweden, support from Finland. Hagshult Air Force Base will host Swedish and Finnish aircraft and pilots on site.

Saturday, 23/9: Land Combat, Kungsängen.

Sunday, 24/9: Consequences of Conflict (Total Defense), Gotland.

Sunday 24/9: Meet our soldiers and officers in Stockholm.

Monday 25/9: Visit amphibious battalion, Oxelösund.

Tuesday 26/9: H.M the King and H.R.H Prince Carl Philip visits the exercise Aurora 17 at Fyruddens harbor.

Wednesday 27/9: Live fire exercise with artillery ends Aurora 17, Trosa.
