New bespoke body armour for women

Ill-fitting body armour has been a problem for many years, especially for women. But now this is going to change. As of June 2023, the new custom-made body armour for women (23 D) will be distributed to all Swedish units.

"I guarantee that all female staff of the SwAF will have received the new body armour by 30 June 2023", says Claes Isoz at the Joint Force Generation Logistics Department.

The old uniform system (90) will continue in use until 2030, and all civilian personnel will have to hold on to their current uniform a while longer.

The new FU 24 uniform will be used in all Nordic countries, only the camouflage pattern will vary. Underwear and base layer underwear will be made of 100 per cent merino wool, and are the only items of clothing, besides the body armour, that are adapted specifically to women and men.
