The first year of the bilateral collaboration has been focusing on alignment in technical and tactical procedures and interoperability. The Swedish Armed Forces together with U.S. counterparts have conducted bi- and multilateral exercises that enhance the cyber workforce in both nations, ensuring sustained expertise against evolving threats.
The year has also included subject matter expert exchange on cyber defense doctrine and sharing of cyber threat actor information, threat indicators, and methodologies.
A force multiplier
The collaboration enhances the ability to detect, disrupt, and deter APT campaigns targeting military vital infrastructure.
Sweden has specialized cyber expertise oriented on the High North. When combined with the U.S.’s depth of technological resources and cyber capabilities, the collaboration becomes a force multiplier.
“During 2024 we have taken important steps. We will now continue to develop our collaboration towards increased interoperability in order to strengthen our capability”, says Major General Pekkari.
"Engagements such as this are a prime opportunity to review our combined activities and progress from the past year. We also have the opportunity to look ahead toward areas we want to partner closer in the future. The U.S. remains committed to our cyberspace partnership with Sweden and other NATO Allies. U.S. European Command is eager to continue expanding our work together”, says Brigader General Cleet.
