SWEDINT’s Advisory Board is a consultative body of international experts from around the world with extensive knowledge and experience of peace support operations and conflict resolution. The expertise and experience of the Advisory Board supports SWEDINT with awareness and strategic thinking in pre-deployment training.

The Advisory Board consists of twelve members comprising deep and diverse expertise in the field of peace support operations and conflict resolution. 

Mr. Chris Coleman

Mr. Chris Coleman, the United States, is a consultant in international peace and security. For 40 years he has played an active role in the prevention and mediation of armed conflict; peacekeeping and conflict management; and post-conflict reconciliation, mainly in Africa and also in the Western Balkans region of Europe. In his last United Nations assignment, Chris was the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Kosovo.

Dr. Linda Darkwa

Dr. Linda Darkwa, Ghana, is a Senior Research Fellow at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy. Her research focuses on the institutionalisation of the processes for enhancing peace and security by Africa’s multilateral institutions. She is also the coordinator for the Training for Peace Programme, the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ support to the African Union Commission.

Colonel Hans Granlund

Colonel Hans Granlund, Sweden, is currently the Deputy Mission Force Commander for European Union Training mission in Somalia. Colonel Granlund has previously served in Sudan and as Director Military Programme at Swedish Defence University as well as the Partner Nation Liaison Representative to NATO Allied Command for Transformation, ACT.

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Abhijit Guha

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Abhijit Guha, India, is a former Head of the UN mission in Yemen (UNMHA). Lt Gen Guha has also been a member of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Department of Field Support Panel of Experts on Technology. He served as the first interim Director of the Office for Peacekeeping Strategic Partnerships and as the Deputy Military Advisor on the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Dennis Gyllensporre

Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Dennis Gyllensporre, Sweden, is an Associate Professor in Security Policy and Strategy at the Swedish Defence University. In October 2021, he completed three years of service as the Force Commander for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). He came from a four-year appointment as the Chief of Defence Staff of the Swedish Armed Forces.

Ms. Charlotte Isaksson

Ms. Charlotte Isaksson, Sweden, has worked primarily in the domain of Security and Defence, including operations and missions. She was Advisor to SACEUR and the functional manager for the integration of gender perspective within NATO Allied Command Operations, 2011-2016. She served in the Directorate of Operations at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters as well as prior positions in the Swedish Armed Forces HQ and with the Swedish Ministry of Defense. She is currently working within the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Major General Michael Anker Lollesgaard

Major General Michael Anker Lollesgaard, Denmark, is currently the Chief of the Danish Army. Major General Lollesgaard previously served as the Force Commander of the United Nation Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali as well as the Chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee in Yemen.

Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist

Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist, Sweden, is the Swedish Military Representative to the EU and NATO stationed in Brussels. He has a background in the Submarine force and 15 years’ experience onboard submarines including serving as Commanding Officer. Between 2013 and 2015 he was the Commander of the submarine flotilla, between 2016 and 2020 he was the Chief of Royal Swedish Navy and in 2015 he served as Chief of Staff in the Operation Atalanta.

Police Commissioner Ann-Marie Orler

Police Commissioner Ann-Marie Orler, Sweden, has 30 years of policing experience at the local, regional, national, and international levels. The latest was as Head of the International Affairs Unit for the Swedish Police. Commissioner Orler has extensive peacekeeping experience and is currently serving as Chief of the Standing Capacity in the UN. She was the Deputy Police Adviser to the UN between 2008 and 2010 before she was promoted to Police Adviser on 8 March 2010 and announced as the “top cop” by the then-Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

Major General Cheryl Pearce

Major General Cheryl Pearce, Australia, recently completed her tenure as Force Commander, United Nations Forces in Cyprus and was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for her outstanding achievement whilst appointed to the position during the period of January 2019 to January 2021. Major General Pearce has now retired from Defence and has been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner South, East and Workforce, Australian Border Force.

Chief Superintendent Meinolf Schlotmann

Chief Superintendent Meinolf Schlotmann, Germany, is the Head of the Department for Foreign Assignments of the state police service in North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany. He has international experience from long term deployments in Kosovo, Darfur, Afghanistan and Mali and recently finished his latest international assignment as Police Commissioner of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM). Chief Superintendent Schlotmann is also lecturing as subject matter expert for civil-military-police coordination.
