The Swedish Armed Forces are conducting Exercise Birger Jarl in central parts of Stockholm, involving approximately 2,000 participants, including military units and civil defence actors. The exercise focuses on enhancing Stockholm's defence capabilities in crisis or wartime situations, particularly in the complex urban environment of the city.

Starting on the 14th and 15th of February, the public may notice armed military personnel and certain training activities in central Stockholm and surrounding areas. The areas that will be affected is Parliament and government district, Gärdet, Northern Djurgården, Kista, Bromma, Frihamnen, Kungsängen, as well as in the municipalities of Ekerö and Huddinge. Troops will also overnight at various locations around the city, potentially appearing without participating in training exercises.

Military transports, both large and small, will be seen on roads during the exercise. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions, but there may be short-term traffic delays as forces move between training sites. For updates, the public is encouraged to listen to P4 Sveriges Radio. Major transport movements will take place between 14th-15th of February and on the 18th of February.
